Episode 15: Buddy and Whitnee

Later that week, Whitnee is taking a stroll along Ariapita Avenue to get some gyros. Then she hears a commotion. As she turns around, she notices a fight going on in front of the doors of... THAT restaurant. She then notices that Buddy is involved. He had come back to the restaurant and telling the customers that the waiters poison the food. The head waiter had dragged Buddy out of the restaurant and this is how the scuffle began.

Whitnee rushes over and breaks up the fight. She hails a taxi and shoves Buddy inside. She gets in.

The taxi driver is perplexed that he has to drop Buddy off in the middle of the bushes but he's getting paid so doesn't complain. He is angry that Buddy has left bad odours in his backseat. As they arrive at the destination, Buddy holds his nose and says, "Yo, homes! Smell ya later!" Whitnee decides to stay with him for a while. Perhaps... she can get the opportunity to understand this person and understand why her mother is so infatuated by this man.

She stays with him as he goes to sleep on his old couch. He dreams about himself.

Whitnee glances over at him and notices a beguiling child-like innocence. Why would her mother fall in love with this man, she asks herself. Perhaps her mother had simply wanted to take care of this man... make sure he was all right. The Florence Nightingale effect, if one may so dare to describe it. Whitnee sighs and wishes someone would take care of her.

Buddy wakes up and looks at her. Whitnee smiles and bids goodbye to him. As she walks away, Buddy says that he wants to thank her. He rushes at her and puckers his lips...

Whitnee braces and pushes him away. She mutters a curse under her breath and reminds herself that this is just an insane vagrant, and briskly walks away.
