Episode 30: The Stranger

PREVIOUSLY: FINALLY

A month has passed since Devika's and Ricky's kiss in the park. Things seem to have been going smoothly. But when Devika had asked him to come to her house, Ricky feared two things: 1. That she would want to come to his house eventually, and 2. That her family would hate him.

But she eventually convinces him to say yes... He shows up at the door and Devika comes to greet him. She tells him that her family would love him. Unfortunately, things already begin to go downhill...

Avinash peers through the window and sees the young black man. Bad memories of the Stroker's assault from years ago flash past him. The group of black men kicking his face in. He dashes outside and holds Ricky in a headlock. Devika forces Avinash off him.

Ricky wishes he stayed home. They go inside and meet Lalchand.

Lalchand is NOT pleased, even after Ricky tries to bring up Indo-centric topics such as Indian art, Bollywood music and Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Lalchand asks the boy what's his educational background and that he needs his daughter to date an INTELLIGENT man.

Ricky finds it ironic that he's dressed in a hotdog vendor uniform. Devika is pissed off.

Avinash is still fuming over the fact that his sister is going out with a black man. He tries to get Artee to side with him but she flat-out refuses to. When she tells him that she actually supports the relationship, Avinash pounds his fist on the table and storms off.

He sees Ricky and Devika watching TV and thoughts of Ricky breaking in the house and stealing the TV come to mind.

Devika takes Ricky outside and apologises for her family's behaviour. Ricky is disappointed but did not expect any better. As they share a kiss outside, Ricky decides that he has had a great time with Devika for the past month and that she is worth fighting for.

... And Avinash isn't done yet.
